Writing Week 5 Term 3 2021 My Metamorphosis

Yet another thing we did for writing this week was to imagine that we had undergone metamorphosis.

We had to pretend we had woken up one morning and discovered we had changed. It would be like going to sleep as a caterpillar and waking up as a butterfly. We had to write about what our new body was like and what we could do. I chose to : make myself a octopus man like Davy Jones off The Pirates of the Caribbean.

Here is my work.

Writing Week 7 Term 2 2021 Environmental Writing: The Old Playground

In Week 7,  we went outside and looked at the old wooden playground  to see if we could think how to write about it using personification. We tried to think about the old playground as if it were an old person. We wondered what the old playground might look like or do that was like an old person. Here is my work:

Writing Week 8 Term 2 2021

We made some batik art about our wairua (special place). My wairua is my lounge. First we sketched on paper and then traced on some fabric with pencil. After that I used PVA glue and use it to go over the pencil. While I waited to dry and stick I created this poem about my wairua (the second picture) to go with the art. Once the art dried I painted my art. Here is my work.

Writing Week 2 Term 2 2021

Chocolate

Kia ora

This writing task was about a language experience. Our teachers brought different kinds of chocolate to school and we got to eat it! We tried white chocolate, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, caramel chocolate and pink chocolate. We could write about it in any way we liked but our teachers hoped we would use lots of describing language and our senses.

Cicada Poem

Kai ora,

This writing task was about looking at a haiku poem which begins with an adverb and seeing if we could recognise its syllable structure and spot the other language features in it. Then we had two choices. We could either use the poem as a template to write our own  poem of any style with lots of adverbs OR we could rewrite the poem as a haiku by changing a few words here and there and making sure we used some more adverbs. Here is my work:

The Old Church

Kai ora,

In Week 7, our class went to look at the outside of the old church building which is next to our school. We had to write using lots of adjectives, adverbs, specific nouns and vivid verbs so that we described it well. We tried to remember to use ideas from our senses and to write about not just what we thought the old church looked like but also how it made us feel.

Couplet Poem

We are learning how to write a couplet poem. We looked at an example on page 32  of SJ 1.4 1992. Then we had to choose our own noun, two opposite adjectives to describe it, think of rhyming words for the end of each line and finish the last line with a onomatopoeia word repeated 3 times. Here is my work.

Writing Wk 3 Term 1 2021

 Kia ora.

We are learning that Basic Punctuation mean

that you have a capital letter at the start of a sentence, and a full stop, question mark or exclamation mark at the end of every sentence when you do a piece of writing. I decided to write about the life cycle of a Monarch butterfly.

My Chimera

I made a Chimera out of a tiger, rhino and snake. It also has wings. A chimera
is a mythical creature made out of three amimals put together. It also has wings.
If you want to make a chimera, you can use this as an inspiration. This how
I made the chimera.

Letter to Elderly Relative

I made a letter to my Poppa and Nanny. I had to
first write where I live and the date I sent it so
they know if it's recent or not. Then I wrote where
I'm sending it so they know where to go to send it.
Then I greet them. After that I write the messege
that I want to say. Then I say bye on the letter.
Here is my leter.

My Dream Vehicle

Today I have made a Google Draw of My Dream Vehicle. This is my Dream
Vehicle, it is a very, very fast motorbike. It can reach up to 1,000000 km per
hour. And it has a holder for tablets and Ipads so you can watch videos
while driving, but don't play games on you tablet/Ipad.

Super Hero Comic Strip

For the last few days we have been creating our own creative writing about super heroes.
For my first activity I made a real life superhero saving the day on a comic strip.
I liked the creating the peoples appearance.
What I found hard was thinking about what they say.
This is the comic strip I made.
