Maths Week 5 Term 3 2021 Expanded numerals

 This week one thing we have been  learning in maths is how to write expanded numbers. Another way of saying this is ‘expanded form’ or ‘expanded notation’. They all mean the same thing. It’s like you have to break the numbers up into their place value parts and then put + symbols in between them. Example: 

7239 =7000+200+30+9.

Basic Facts Term 1 2021

This is my basic facts blog for the beginning of 2021. We had to write our level on maths. My level is stage 7. I also had to write what I am good at and need to work on. Here it is.

Numbers as shapes

 We are learning how to look at numbers, how they work and how you can group them. We did an activity called Numbers as shapes. It’s a bit like algebra thinking. Here is my work:

Compatible Numbers with a Buddy

Kia ora

We have been learning about how to use Compatible Numbers. Compatible Numbers are any two numbers which add together to make a Tidy Number (a  number which ends in zero).  We had to choose two Compatible Numbers and another number. Then we had to think of a word problem which used our numbers and give the problem to a buddy to solve. Mrs Ogle, our maths facilitator, said this is called 'posing problems'.

 

Bob, Bobby and Bobbet have Rugby collection cards. Bob has 16. Bobby has 21 and Bobbet has 14, how many do they have together. My friend Andrew did 16 + 14 = 30 30 + 21 = 51.

Multiplication Facts

We have been doing a game about maths. It is called Multiplication Wheels. We go into our maths books and grab a multiplication wheel and write a number from one to ten in the middle and answer the questions. After that we write down the question answer fast enough or properly. I need to work on six, three and nine times tables.

Maths Day Diary

I made a Diary for maths today. The part that is to do with maths is the time of each thing I do on each day. This isn't a weekend dairy but it is and isolation school Maths Diary. This is how I made my Maths Diary.

We have been working on answering basic facts questions quickly and instantly. 

I am at Stage 5. I got 37 out of 60.

Maths

For maths we have been working in mixed ability groups to solve problems. The focus has been solving word problems using place value. We have to select the correct the correct strategy to solve the problem. I have chosen two problems to show you how I work them out. 

I find easy is the addition because it was short and easy.

Time

On 3/12/2018 we made a google draw about telling the time. We got to choose 9 of the times on the side. We made the photos out of a clocks we made. These are my ones I did.

This is my Term three basic facts.
I need to work on my speed and remembering of the answers.
I am good at getting my answers right.

Fractions

On Thursday Month 7 we made fractions out of Playdough, Paper and felts, Fruit, Shapes, Lego and the environment. I had Lego for my fractions. Some people had buddies but I didn't. This is one of the 4/4 four quarters.

Multiplication and Division

We have been working on understanding multiplication and division. We are learning to read word problems and answer them by showing our working and the answer we got.

ASB Writing

On Wednesday we had Marlon from ASB Get wise talking to us about saving our money, spending money on needs not wants and using invisible money is eftpos. I have made a google draw to show what I have learnt. I liked learning about the cards .
